My purpose of writing this article is to change the Perak MB’s decision in wanting to use the Ipoh Airport for private jets. As one of the members of the State Advisory council, I have suggested earlier to sell the land of the old airport and use the sale proceeds to build the new airport.
The google map below shows the size of the airport. It is about 600-meter-wide by 2,000-meter-long = 1.2 million sq m.
Assuming the land can be sold at Rm 1,000 per sq m, the land is worth Rm 1.2 billion. Even if the land can be sold aat Rm 500 per sq m, the land is worth Rm 600 million.
There are only a few private jets including former PM Najib’s jet. Is it wise to use the old Ipoh airport to serve these few private jets? It is better to sell the land to benefit the people of Perak.
If we sell the land for Rm 600 million or more, we can use the sale proceeds to build the new airport.
I trust the Perak MB and all the State Assembly men will discuss and consider my suggestion, bearing in mind that benefitting the people is more important than just benefiting the few jet owners.
