US banned imports of Malaysian palm oil

Koon Yew Yin 31 Dec 2020

The United States has banned imports of palm oil from Malaysian producer *Sime Darby Plantation Bhd* over allegations of forced labour in the production process, according to the US Customs and Border Protection. The agency said it has issued a “withhold release order”, which will allow it to detain shipments based on suspicion of forced labour involvement under long-standing US laws aimed at combating human trafficking, child labour, and other human rights abuses.

This is so ridiculous if you look at how US practice Human Rights in USA.

The United States continued to move backward on human rights at home and abroad in the last 4 years of President Donald Trump’s administration. With Trump’s Republican party controlling the legislative branch, his administration and Congress were able to pass laws, implement regulations, and carry out policies that violate or undermine human rights.

State and federal jails and prisons continue to hold over 2 million people, with another 4.5 million on probation or parole. Women are the fastest growing correctional population nationwide, increasing by more than 700 percent between 1980 and 2016. Oklahoma incarcerates more women per capita than any other US state. In September, Human Rights watch documented the lasting harm of jailing mothers pretrial, many of whom simply cannot afford bail in that state.

US has so many disagreements with China. One of them is Human Rights abuse in Xinjiang where the majority of the citizens are Muslim.

When and where did the US want to protect the Muslims so much???

Remember the US killed millions of Muslims in the Middle East.
