China-bashing is rooted in myths of Western superiority

Baseless or exaggerated criticism of everything Chinese has become synonymous with a fast track to career advancement, at least in the fields of journalism and academia. Bashing China and its territories has become a norm in Western media.

In the US today, dehumanising myths about Chinese continue to drive the cultural belief that China is the enemy. 

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said China has committed genocide in its repression of the Uighurs and other mainly Muslim peoples. 

Since when did the US want to protect the Muslims?

US declared war on Iraq under false pretences that Saddam Hussein had weapon of mass destruction. At least 800,000 people have been killed by direct war violence in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Pakistan. Why did the US kill so many Muslims in the Middle East? 

A few days ago, China bans BBC World News from broadcasting in China. China has criticised the BBC for its reporting on coronavirus and the persecution of ethnic minority Uighurs. The BBC said it was “disappointed” by the decision.

When Trump became the US Present 4 years ago, he started a trade war with China to reduce its trade deficit. He kept bashing China to win more votes. Unfortunately, most Americans like it. 

The Covid 19 pandemic started in Wuhan about 1 year ago. Very quickly the Chinese Government managed to control the spread of the virus. 

Trump said the coronavirus is Chinese made. He called it Chinese flu. He did not even believe in wearing a face mask. As a result, US has the most Covid19 cases in the world. 

Currently, the US has 28.2 million cases and 496,003 deaths. 1 person dies every 1 minute in USA. 

Chinese economy outstrips US despite Beijing bashing. China emerging as the engine of global growth amid the Covid pandemic.

While the pandemic is depressing the US economy, China is improving its economy to surpass US to become the richest nation in the world.
