Although I am one of the poorest on the selected list, I give away proportionally more in comparison to my wealth. Moreover, my way of giving scholarships to help poor students to complete their tertiary education has a multiplying effect. Up till date I have given more than 300 scholarships.
All scholarship recipients do not need to work for me nor they require to pay back the money spent on them. But they have to promise me that when they are financially solvent, they would have to help other poor students. Currently about 200 scholarship recipients have already graduated and I expect some of them will soon be looking for poor students to help. As time goes by, more and more graduates will help other poor students.
All Malaysian students whose family income is not more than Rm 3,000 per month can apply for my scholarship. Interested applicants should write to my wife who is charge of my scholarship offer: [email protected]. All applications should include SPM ( 5As minimum) or STPM certificates, the parents’ pay voucher and admission letter from local universities. I am also willing to support students without STPM to do the one year pre U or foundation course.
This year, Audemars Piguet has selected me as one of the leading philanthropists in Malaysia.
In July 2011, Forbes selected me as one of the 4 top philanthropists in Malaysia.
I am 82 years old and I know for sure I cannot take any money with me when I die. I have written in my WILL that all my remaining assets will be donated to do charity.
My ultimate aim in life is to help poor people and to change the corrupted government.
