Covid 19 will damage US so badly

Koon Yew Yin 31 Aug 2020

The chart below shows that the US did not have any Covid 19 cases on 28 March. Just after 5 months there are 6.17 million Covid 19 cases, 187,000 deaths and 3.42 million patients recovered. Studies have shown that those recovered patients will continue to have ill health. Based on the rate of increase, there will be tens of million more Covid 19 cases in the US before the pandemic is under control. Many scientists predicted the pandemic will not be under control for at least 1 or more years even though 6 vaccine are under phase 3 testing.

Even after the final approval of the vaccines, it will take a long time to produce enough to vaccinate all the people around the world. Moreover, the initial cost for vaccination will be too prohibitive for the poor people. I saw an advertisement that a dose of vaccine is 100 pounds or 150 US$.

To be effective all the people must be vaccinated. Otherwise, all those who are not vaccinated will continue to spread the virus.

A few weeks ago, US President Trump did not even believe in wearing face mask. Last night, I saw thousands of people without wearing face masks at Trump’s campaign rally. At the same time, thousands of people without face masks protesting against the police killing African Americans. Apparently, they do not realise Covid 19 is killing thousands of people and damaging the US economy so badly.

Merdeka day celebration

Malaya first got independence, Merdeka on 31 August 1957 from the British Government and today all Malaysians are celebrating our Merdeka. Unfortunately, we could not achieve Dr Mahathir’s vision 2020, although at one time, we were the biggest tin, rubber and palm oil in the world. Moreover, we have petroleum.

I will not be surprised many readers will say that as a Malaysian, I dare to criticize US. It is like a pot calling a kettle black.
